The story of the ride
The idea to cycle from London to Cape Town was simple born from the desire to travel through the Middle East and Africa. With that in mind there’s really only one route to take.
The route is plotted on a whim, trying to find the way which bears the greatest reward, even if it entails some serious sweating and swearing.
Crossing the Alps and the worn roads of the Dolomites will be tough but the Sahara poses an incredible challenge; ‘cycling’ through sand for two weeks in 45C heat carrying all the water and supplies is not for the faint hearted.
To some it may feel familiar territory having watched the Long Way Down; it seemed Ewan and Charlie, we constantly battling the clock – definitely something to avoid.
The route may change but the goal remains the same; adventure, improving the kids lives, and South Africa.
